The question is flawed. He doesn’t show up late. Jesus is present throughout the Scriptures and, like Gandalf, Jesus arrives in the incarnation, “precisely when he (or Father) means to.”
Following the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection yesterday, today we must remember that Jesus is still alive. Today, somewhere in the vastness of all that is, Jesus exists. His body did not stay on earth as his spirit rose into the clouds. He ascended, flesh and all—a preview of what waits for us.
Every story points to Jesus. The death and resurrection of Christ is the center of the Christian story and the center of the world’s story.
Jesus is not the main character of the Bible. He is the fullness of its story. Its climax. Its purpose. Its everything.
The stories of Scripture are shadows showing us bits and pieces of our Savior.
I thought today it would be helpful to remember the centrality of Christ with a short video. I am thankful for the work of my friends at The Gospel Project. This video is designed for kids, but I get goosebumps watching it.
